Wet Brush vs Unbrush: Which One Is Lying?
If you've ever stood in the hair aisle like
"why are there 47 versions of the same brush?"
—Hi, welcome, same.
I put the Wet Brush and the Unbrush to the test because, between my hair and my daughter's curls, we are basically a full-on product-trial lab over here.
And listen…they are not the same brush. Not even close.
First Impressions (a.k.a. Why Is This So Complicated?)
Wet Brush came in hot with options:
Original Detangler
Frizz-Free Detangler
Curl Shaper
Mini Detangler
Speed Dry
Smooth Styler
Paddle Detangler
Keychain Detangler (because… purse hair emergencies?? I have WAY too much hair for this…)
Meanwhile, Unbrush kept it simple:
Detangling Brush
Styling Brush
And I'll be honest—trying to navigate Unbrush's website on my phone? Not it. Not user-friendly. Felt like I had to work to find basic info.
Also…real talk? All the Wet Brush bristles looked the same to me.
Different brush shapes, sure—but nothing screamed this one is life-changingly different.
Performance
Here's where the plot twists a little.
On WET hair:
Unbrush: This thing glides. No pulling, no drama. Especially on my daughter's curly hair—it just…works. Smooth, easy, zero fight.
Wet Brush: Not a fan. It dragged more than I expected and just didn't feel as gentle.
On DRY hair:
Wet Brush: 👏 This is its moment. It actually gets through knots better and feels more effective overall.
Unbrush: Still good—but doesn't power through tangles the same way.
So basically:
Unbrush = wet hair queen
Wet Brush = dry hair warrior
Pricing
You're not dropping salon money on a hairbrush, and you shouldn't have to.
So price-wise? Practically the same. No clear winner here.
IMBHO Final Thoughts
Here's the honest answer you probably don't want but need:
You might need both.
I know. Annoying.
But if you're dealing with:
Wet hair tangles → Unbrush
Dry hair knots → Wet Brush
Curly kid hair → Unbrush all day
If I had to choose just one?
I'd pick Unbrush—because detangling wet hair without tears (mine or my child's) is a bigger win in my house.
BUT.
If you mostly brush dry hair and want something that actually fights through knots? Wet Brush earns its spot.
The Real Truth (My Ruthless Mentor Moment)
Brands love to overcomplicate simple things.
Eight versions of one brush? For crying out loud, be so serious!
At the end of the day, the label doesn't matter—it's about what actually works on your hair in real life.
And IMBHO?
No brush is one-size-fits-all… no matter how cute the packaging is. Both are a must-have…because of course, one brush couldn’t just do it all.
