Washable lint roller

Our house would not be complete if it weren’t for our furry friends. We have two dogs and three cats, plus two horses. Needless to say, our furniture and clothes are never without pet hair! I’ve always kept several paper lint rollers on hand, but I use them sparingly because of all the waste and refills we go through.

Washable and reusable gel lint rollers seemed like a brilliant solution! But I worried about how truly washable they would be. Would it be more of a hassle than it was worth?

This washable lint roller came from Shoopati.com for $14.99 (sale price). The shipping took quite a while!

I tried this out on my couch and was impressed with how well it worked! In one slow pass, it picked up 90% of the hair! I had to stop and wash it before finishing my couch, but that wasn’t so bad — the hair slid right off the roller once I stuck it under the water. I just ran my fingers across the roller while I rinsed, picked the hair off the edges, shook it dry, and it was ready to go again! So much easier than I expected.

I wondered how well the lint roller held up with extended use. Over the next couple of weeks, I used it a handful of times. Rinsing the hair off became harder to do after each use, and as often as I needed to stop and rinse the roller, it did become a hassle. I also noticed the gel surface started getting pretty grimy after a while, which seemed to affect the stickiness.

I think this roller would work okay for very mild lint issues; however, I don’t recommend it for hairy homes. It worked great for a few tries, which leaves me to give it a ‘maybe,’ IMBHO.
