Tracking for Improvement

I had high hopes for this product. Fahlo presents a really fun idea with these bracelets. But could they “Fahlo” through?

For $16.95 plus shipping, Fahlo sends you a bracelet of your choice along with a QR code to track your animal. They give you an option of four different animals: Polar Bear, Shark, Turtle, or Elephant. With each animal comes 8-10 different color options.

With our package, we got a cute little card with our Polar Bear’s name and a brief introduction. And the bracelet itself is pretty good quality. Eager to share the experience with my girls, I scanned the QR code, downloaded the app, and got started!

Quite quickly, I realized there wasn’t much to the tracking experience. While I was expecting a live feed or at least daily tracking, Bobbie’s location only updates once a week with a little dot on the map. That’s all, folks. No polar bear pictures or even fun facts. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed.

Fahlo partners with 5 different wildlife conservations:

This is where they get the tracking information for the animals. Fahlo also donates 10% of their profits to these organizations.

Fahlo’s blog has several educational articles about the animals featured on their bracelets. I think this information would be a great addition to Fahlo’s app. If the tracking can’t be updated more frequently, it would be nice to at least be able to learn a little more about the animal we’re following, such as: diet, habitat, or family life. The app really needs to be more interactive.

This concept is great, but Fahlo’s low-quality app experience leads us to give this product an IMBHO-no. :(
