Quest Nutrition is a relatively new company, started in 2010 by husband and wife team, Ron and Shannon Penna. In 2010 they introduced their first Quest Protein Bar created in their personal kitchen.

First, I love stories like this. The entrepreneurial spirit driven by a dream to “make foods you crave work for you, not against you.”…so cool.

And second, I have not tried a Quest Protein Bar. I don’t eat a lot of sweet things and don’t like sugar alternatives. Instead I searched the savory aisle and found two Quest products I’ve really enjoyed: protein chips and pizza!

Thankfully, Quest Protein Chips have filled my potato chip void with seven different flavors. I tried Chili Lime first. Way too spicy for me! I couldn’t even make it through a full bag. Then I tried Nacho Cheese. This was more my speed and they were good—not a Doritos flavor—but a good cheesy chip.

The BBQ had a nice sweet and spicy flavor. I would eat those again (though I haven’t). The Ranch chips were just as good as the BBQ. But I landed on their new flavor, Loaded Taco, as my favorite. I swear, the first bite I took I could almost taste the lettuce on that taco. It was everything I hoped for!

Don’t expect these chips to be hard and crunchy like a regular potato or tortilla chip; they’re a bit softer on the bite. But when you haven’t had the luxury of eating a bag of chips for several months, the texture difference doesn’t take away the shear enjoyment of feeling like you’re cheating on your diet.

On the flip side, I haven’t tried the Sour Cream & Onion because my daughter told me they left a bad aftertaste in her mouth, and since these chips are pricey, and she is my kid with my genes flowing through her blood, I figured why bother.

We’ll be covering Quest pizza in a separate blurb, so watch for it. In the meantime, if you’re interested in learning more, visit Quest Nutrition. #onaquest

Dear Quest Team:

Have you considered creating some cheese puffs? I do love a good cheese puff. If you do, please don’t make them taste like FITCRUNCH Protein Puffs because they’re disgusting.

Sincerely,

Missing My Cheese Puffs
