Snap, Crackle, Meh?

Ah, Magic Spoon Treats—yet another snack trying to convince us that healthy food can actually taste good. Spoiler alert: They kinda pull it off.

First things first, let’s talk about the cost. If you waltz into Target and grab a box, you’re dropping a whopping $9.99 for four bars. That’s $2.50 per bar.

Now, if you’re a bargain hunter like me (or just someone who refuses to pay gourmet prices for what is essentially a protein-packed Rice Krispie treat), Thrive Market has them for $7.19, bringing the per-bar price down to $1.80. Not exactly a steal, but hey, every cent counts.

Ingredients: Casein, Tapioca Flour, Allulose, Almond Butter, Inulin, Palm Kernel and Palm Oil, Whey Protein Concentrate, Glycerin, Tapioca Starch, Natural Flavor, Salt, Cream (Cream Natural Flavor), Sunflower Lecithin, Stevia Leaf Extract, Monk Fruit Extract.

No gluten, no grains, and a surprising actual marshmallow moment.

The box? Absolutely adorable.

Bright, inviting, and the snack on the front looks like a dream.

The reality? A bit less dreamy. The bar itself doesn’t quite match the pristine, Instagram-worthy image, but at least it has the icing on the bottom. So, there’s that.

Okay, let’s get to the important part. When I opened the package, the first thing I noticed was the smell—almonds and honey, not marshmallow-y goodness.

Not a dealbreaker, just different. Now, the texture? A little fragile.

Bits of it crumbled off as I took it out of the wrapper, and I don’t recall Rice Krispie treats being this high-maintenance.

That being said, the taste? Shockingly good. It has the crispy rice texture we all know and love, with a slight protein bar aftertaste (which, let’s be real, was expected).

The icing on the bottom adds a nice touch of sweetness, and I personally loved the hint of salt—because nothing hits quite like a sweet-and-salty combo.

The biggest issue? Only four bars in a box. I ate two in one sitting, and honestly, if there were six in the box, I would’ve still been left wanting more. At this price, I need a little more bang for my buck.

Would I buy them again? Probably, but only on sale.

They’re tasty, high in protein, and low in sugar, but they’re also average sized, a little crumbly, and expensive.

If you’re looking for a healthier alternative to a classic Rice Krispie treat, Magic Spoon Treats are a solid option—just don’t expect perfection. Or marshmallows.
