Mexican rice, Teriyaki rice… and a fight for the last bite

You ever touch a package and think, "Damn, this feels good." No? Just me? Oh, okay… cool… cool. Ha.

But seriously, the packaging of
Rollin’ Greens M’Eat Mexican Rice is something else. It’s got this slick, irresistibly smooth texture that I could probably sit and rub between my fingers all day like some kind of food package weirdo. (No shame.)

But enough about my questionable obsession with packaging textures—let’s talk about what’s inside these gloriously designed little containers of plant-based magic.

The price? $4.04 per bowl on Thrive Market. And frustratingly, they’re not available on Amazon. Because apparently, Rollin’ Greens wants to make life difficult for those of us without a Thrive Market subscription.

The bowl itself is 2.5 oz of protein-packed goodness and claims to be

gluten-free, soy-free, and non-GMO.

Opening it up? Wow. Smells exactly like taco meat. Like, dead-on. The chili, jalapeno, and bell peppers were giving me all the right vibes. I hadn’t even taken a bite, and I was already intrigued.

Cooking it was an emotional rollercoaster. The instructions? Simple: add water, microwave for 3 to 3.5 minutes, then let it sit for 2 minutes.

Easy peasy.

But the waiting? Absolute torture. As it was nuking, my kitchen smelled like full-on Taco Tuesday was happening.

And then… disappointment. It looked awful. Like, “post-taco-night regret” awful. (If you know, you know.)

But looks can be deceiving, and I had a feeling this would be one of those times—so I powered through.

The Taste? NEXT LEVEL. Absolutely mind-blown. This is next-level delicious. The bell peppers add freshness, the texture is shockingly meaty for a plant-based dish, and the jalapeno/chili pepper after-kick is chef’s kiss perfect.

I thought I’d take a few polite bites and move on, but NOPE. I was devouring it.

And then? I made a mistake.

I let my husband try it.

Regret level: 10/10. Because after one bite, he wanted the whole damn bowl.

Look, I love him. I really do. But I also really loved that bowl. And in an ultimate act of kindness, I handed it over… after sneaking a few more bites.

And now, onto the next flavor…

The Teriyaki Rice has a strong garlic and onion powder aromahonestly, it smells just like Gardettos. And let’s be real, those are delicious.

Once I added water, the scent transformed. Suddenly, I could pick up on ginger and hints of chives.

Mmm. Fantastic.

You know what I don’t love? When microwaving food turns my microwave into a war zone. A literal nuke! ARGH.

That said, this one smelled phenomenal—and unlike the last one, it actually looked decent too.

Holy. Moly.

Yup. This is delectable.

A sweet teriyaki flavor with plant-based chicken pieces that taste just like tender chicken. Perfect.

…No. I did not share this one.

👏👏 Well done once again, Rollin’ Greens.

Order it in bulk. Hide it from your family. Trust me.

It’s a definite M’Eat’y BHO-YES!
