Breaking Rules and Budgets
Okay, so let's talk about the real crime here: $4.79 on sale ($4.99 regular) for five mini blondies at my local Kroger. That's almost a dollar a cookie.
And don't even get me started on the Amazon price — $14.99.
That's highway robbery in the snack aisle.
Now these little guys check every trendy box you could possibly imagine.
They're plant-based, vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, kosher, non-GMO, and even individually wrapped for lunchbox convenience.
Basically, they're trying to be everyone's friend — from allergy-safe kids to clean-eating adults who pretend dessert doesn't count if it's vegan.
The smell? They're pretty amazing. Think brown sugar, dates, and a hint of chocolate chip cookie dough. Warm, familiar, and definitely inviting — even though I can't stand real dates, so that's saying something.
Visually, it looks like a thick, soft-baked cookie, but when I broke it in half, it had that dense, slightly dry crumble that most gluten-free snacks can't quite escape.
The inside wasn't gooey or melty — more of a chewy, hearty bite that clings to your molars for dear life.
And the taste… It's complicated.
The first two seconds? Delicious, sweet, chocolatey, almost nostalgic. Then the aftertaste creeps in — that telltale plant-based tang that reminds you this cookie is made from chickpeas, not butter and sugar.
My taste buds went from "Oh, hey, maybe we found a winner!" to "Wait, what is that?" real quick.
Still, for what it is, it's not bad. I've had plenty of "healthy" cookies that taste like flavored sawdust — this is not one of them.
It's actually satisfying in small doses, especially if you lower your expectations from "bakery cookie" to "completely nut-free snack that won't make my kid's lunchbox smell weird."
Would I repurchase them?
Maybe — but only if they're on sale.
Because $5 for five cookies feels less like "snack time solved" and more like "budget blown."
My husband, however, clearly disagreed. He ate the rest of the box before I could even decide if I liked them. Which is the best review of all.
If you're gluten-free, plant-based, or need a safe snack for school lunches, these are a solid "mm…only if it's on sale." But if you're expecting a chewy Chips Ahoy moment, it's probably a no.
IMBHO-Only if it's on Sale
