🥒 Thrive Market organic pickles: The bougie baby dill experience I didn’t know I needed
Let me just start by saying: I am a dill pickle snob. A crunchy, briny elitist. And when it comes to baby dills, Vlassic has always been the one.
You know the kind—snappy, salty, and satisfyingly sour. So when I spotted Thrive Market Organic Kosher Baby Dill Pickles on sale (keyword: on sale) for $5.99, I figured, why not give the organic life a crunchy try?
Then I saw the regular price: $8.59 PER JAR.
Excuse me while I momentarily black out.
$8.59?! For pickles? Is there gold in the brine or just plain ol’ garlic?
But hold up—let’s rewind.
These come in a standard 24 ounce jar. Nothing flashy. The smell? Spot on. My daughter and I instantly caught the salt & vinegar chip scent—plus that fresh, tangy pickle aroma that makes your mouth water before you even twist the lid all the way off.
But then… the stems. Yes, some of these baby dills still had stems hanging out, like they were plucked from the vine and just YOLO’d into the jar.
My daughter, who is a devoted picklehead, was borderline offended. The stem thing? Kinda gross to her. Why are we leaving little woody sticks on these premium-priced pickles?
The stem weirdness almost made me question everything until I spotted those glorious cloves of fresh garlic chilling at the bottom like flavor grenades. Garlic in the jar = automatic win. Period. It means someone actually gave a damn during production. It means love. It means flavor.
My daughter was the brave one—first to take a bite. Her eyes closed. She hummed. She had a literal "mmm" moment. You know when food makes someone physically react? That.
And she wasn’t wrong. These pickles are delicious. Imagine Vlassic, but somehow cleaner, fresher, less mass-produced tasting. Like a Vlassic that took a summer internship at a small-batch artisanal pickle farm. The flavor is punchy, the crunch is respectable (not legendary, but up there), and the garlic? Brings it home.
So let’s break it down:
Pros:
Legit delicious
Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Plant-Based (the wellness label starter pack)
Clean ingredient list (and fresh garlic!!)
Cons:
$8.59. For pickles.
Still out of stock (probably because everyone panic-bought them when they were on sale)
Stems. Just…why?
Nutritionally, we're talking 5 calories, 0g fat, 250mg sodium (because: pickles), <1g carbs, and 0g everything else. These are pure flavor with no intention of nourishing your body—just your soul.
Would I buy them again? Yes.
Would I pay $8.59 a jar? Only if I’m going through something emotional and need pickle therapy.
Would I recommend them? Yes—but only if you appreciate the finer things in life, like fresh garlic and ethical brining.
These pickles slap. But so does that price tag.
